One of the first things people notice on entering Harbour House, Live Bait and Polana, also Sirocco in the summer months, are the wonderful flowers: potted orchids and gorgeous arrangements of exotic blooms are just everywhere. Even the cacti are beautiful!

“Who does all these?” new visitors ask out loud, awed.

Well, if this is a mid-winter weekend, shhh. Keep it down. Best to spare the Jozimites, you know. Poor dears need to believe that old fib about how we freeze our damp patooties off six months of the year.

Seriously though, today was the most perfectly splendid day in Cape Town’s deep south, specially in our little neck of it in Kalk Bay.
If you’re sorry you couldn’t join today’s many happy daytrippers, no problem, because tomorrow, Sunday, will be even warmer and more gorgeous – the weather gurus are promising 26˚C.

If you’ve been down to the V&A Waterfront lately, you may have noticed that … we’re, shall we say, sprouting a new little leaf on our family tree! That’s right: Harbour House is getting a sister.

We’ve tried to keep her under wraps (under white cladding boards, actually), but word's got out and we’re delighted so, just to confirm, we’re due to open in late September.

Thursday nights are party nights at Polana, and tonight will be extra-special at the cocktail and
tapas lounge on the rocks at Kalk Bay Harbour, because it’s our DJ Django’s first night in as a come-of-age gentleman. That’s right, he’s just turned 21!
